It is the love/hate relationships that I have that are most interesting to me lately. Chocolate comes to mind first. I am sure we all know what I mean there. I have a love/hate relationship with computers, my contact lenses, and exercise. Toilets, dishes, clothing, grocery stores, gas stations....they all fall on one end of my emotional spectrum or the other.I think moderation is in order. But what part of a poopy diapered baby belongs in the middle of anything?? He is either super stinky or super cute....and neither one of those invokes a feeling of gentle fondness. No, some things just stink and some things are adorable beyond all measure.
I have started a relationship with the mailbox as well. Which brings me to the real reason for this post. My last post was a real nail biter. A mystery. A parable of sorts. Nah, it was just stress.
We are waiting to find out whether or not Paul got accepted at these different schools. At first I thought it was just the simple difference between red and blue. Turns out red (the U) has nothing to do with anything and blue (BYU) has a wait list with Paul's name on it. Green has come into play (Oregon) and the surface of the sun (Arizona) is still on the horizon.
So there is the fence. Fences are nice when they keep pets, children, and pesky salesmen out of your yard. They are even nice adornment around a well kept yard. They are really not made to sit on. Fences are quite uncomfortable. No back rest, no cushion, very little wiggle room. I love my white picket fence that wraps my front yard and roses up neatly. I hate the fence I am still sitting on as we wait to know where we will go, or not go. It is the relationship that is fascinating. Who knew you could even have a relationship with a fence?
